Chilled Chocolate Hazelnut Torte

Having been married only a year ago, most of the items in my kitchen are relatively new. After our wedding back in 2012, it was out with the old and in with the new. We purged our kitchen of all the old pots, pans, plates and appliances and replaced them with something shiny and new. It wasn’t until recently that I began adding treasured family heirlooms to my kitchen collection – including this glass pie pan that belonged to my grandmother.

One of my fondest memories as a child was enjoying pie at my grandmother’s house during the holidays. From apple and cherry to pumpkin and mincemeat, every Christmas she would bake some of the most memorable pies. And now it’s my turn. This beautiful glass pie pan with scalloped edges now resides in my own kitchen and continues to hold only the most delicious of masterpieces. Enter this chilled chocolate hazelnut torte.

Despite the continued cold weather and even snow a couple weeks ago here in Chicago, this pie is helping me dream of summer. This frozen dessert will make the perfect addition to any late night warm weather cookout!
