  • 2 cups cranberries, rinsed and picked over

  • Additional sugar for coating

Place cranberries in a medium bowl and set aside. In a medium saucepan bring water and sugar to a simmer. Let syrup cool for a couple minutes and pout it over the cranberries. Coat each one in either powdered sugar or cocoa powder. Refrigerate until ready to serve!

Sugar Plums
recipe and picture from Nourished Kitchen

I’ve been wanting to make homemade sugar plums for the longest time and this recipe looks like the perfect one to use!

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • zest from one orange
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp coriander
  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots (unsulphured preferred)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pitted prunes
  • powdered sugar or shredded coconut, optional

Optional: In a mixing bowl, toss walnuts with sea salt and add warm water to cover by two inches. Allow nuts to soak over night for 8-12 hours. Drain, rinse well, and pat dry.

Toss nuts in a food processor with orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, coriander, dates, apricots, and prunes. Pulse mixture until paste forms (about 5 minutes). Transfer paste to mixing bowl and roll sugar plum balls (about 2 Tbsp mixture per ball). Roll the balls in powdered sugar or coconut if desired.
