Holiday Races

A great way to stay active during the winter season is to sign up for a fun holiday 5K! While some of the race dates may have passed already this year, make it part of your New Year’s Resolution to register for one next year! Check online or your local newspaper, some cities have smaller races around the holidays that you still may be able to participate in!

Jingle Bell Walk/Run (Chicago, IL): This 5K race for Arthritis is a fun festive event for the whole family! Tie jingle bells to your running shoes and join the race to spread holiday cheer along Lake Michigan in early December. I ran this race last year and had a blast. Surrounded by runners in the holiday spirit you will forget all about the Chicago cold as you make it across the finish line!

Las Vegas Great Santa Run (Las Vegas, NV): This 5K walk/run and 1 mile walk around Town Square Las Vegas (just south of the strip) is the largest Santa gathering filled with festivities and entertainment. Upon registration you will receive your very own 5-piece Santa Suit (to keep) to wear on race day. Proceeds go to Opportunity Village an organization serving community members with intellectual disabilities.

Midnight Run on New Year’s Eve (New York City, NY): Kick off the new year right with this 4 mile race through Central Park at midnight on New Year’s Day. This celebration includes a costume contest, fireworks, dancing, and even champagne at the half way point!

Get your friends and family together and register for one of these races next year to share in some healthy holiday fun!
