Pitch Coal- Fire Pizzeria

Just arrived in Omaha, NE this afternoon to visit my family before things start back up at school again in Chicago for the summer! For dinner we went to Pitch Coal-Fire Pizzeria, a relatively new pizza place in the Dundee area. It was my first time eating at  and I really enjoyed it!

Pitch Pizzeria was founded by Willy Theisen, who introduced Godfather’s Pizza, Fuddruckers, and Famous Dave’s to Nebraska. Pitch uses coal-fire ovens to bake their pizzas. This style of cooking originated in Naples, Italy and generates a crisp, thin crust with a slight charcoaled flavor.

Pitch offers a variety of pizza choices including everything from a classic Margherita with fresh tomato, basil, and mozzarella to the Marsala with figs, goat cheese, pears, arugula, truffle oil, and mozzarella. If their list of signature pizzas does not suit you, you can choose your own ingredients to build your own personalized pizza. We ordered the Margherita pizza and a large mixed green salad to share; both were delicious!

Pitch has a great atmosphere that is buzzing even on a Sunday night. If you are looking for a traditional pizza parlor, Pitch is not for you. But if you are looking for a great place to take a date or out-of-town guests who would enjoy gourmet pizza flavors that are out of the ordinary, Pitch is the perfect solution!

If you haven’t been to Pitch Pizzeria in Dundee yet I would definitely recommended it. The atmosphere, food, and service reminded me of the unique restaurants in the River North area of Chicago, so I felt right at home!
