This weekend was Lit Fest here in Chicago! With Printer’s Row only a few block away from home, we spent Saturday afternoon browsing book sales!
This was my very first time at Lit Fest and I had no idea what I had been missing out on all these years! Anyone that knows me knows that I love to read – fiction, cookbooks, food novels, you name it, I read it. I made a New Years resolution back in January that I would read 1 book a month and so far I’m staying on track!
Here are my 2013 reads thus far:
With books on sale as cheap as $3-$5 I had a hard time walking away from the festival with only 2 books in hand. I got Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls (I’ve loved her since The Glass Castle) and The Shack by Wm. Paul Young (an impulse buy recommended by a woman standing next to me at the festival).
There were lots of food trucks at the festival to eat from – The Weiner Wagon and Jerk just to name a few, but we opted to sit down at a restaurant instead to enjoy the beautiful weather.
We went to Jimmy Greens (a regular stop in our neighborhood) for lunch. I got the Mediterranean Orzo salad which was delicious, although the orzo to greens ratio should be switched if you ask me!
I’ve got a few more errands to run today before our trip tomorrow! We are heading off to Las Vegas for the weekend for our 1 year wedding anniversary!
