Cold Weather, Coffee and Crossfit

Chicago winter is officially here. With the wind-chill below zero, I will be staying inside thank you! After running some errands out in the cold this morning, I spent most of the day bundled up on the couch with a good book and warm coffee. And lots of it!

My brother gave us these fabulous Chicago Chicago Transit Authority coffee mugs for Christmas! The Loyola red line L stop for me (a proud alum!) and the Davis purple line L stop for Will (near his alma mater Northwestern). I love these mugs, I think they are the cutest idea and lately with the cold weather, we have been getting a lot of use out of them!

Tonight Will and I made our return to Rowfit Chicago! We had taken a short break from Crossfit with moving to our new place, traveling for the holidays, and trying to get our schedules back in check. Tonight’s workout:

Warm-Up:

  • 5 jumping jacks
  • 5 air squats
  • 5 mountain climbers
  • 5 jumping squats

WOD:

10 minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible)

  • 7 deadlifts (185/120) – I did a weak load of 95#
  • 7 dumb bell push press (35/20) – I did 12# dumb bells

5 Rounds:

  • 5 dead hang pull ups
  • 5 ring dips

 

Not being at crossfit for a while, I have to say, it. kicked. my. butt. I will certainly be sore tomorrow!

Back to the couch for the Biggest Loser! I’ve also been reading A Stolen Life about the abduction of Jaycee Dugard and I cannot put it down! I’m hoping to finish it before bed!
