Mykonos, Greece

After our fabulous time at our wedding, we were ready for vacation! Our honeymoon to the Greek Islands began on June 23rd.

006
We flew from Chicago to Athens and took our first puddle jumper plane to Mykonos, the first island we visited.

094
We stayed in Mykonos for 4 days at a cute bed and breakfast hotel called Vienoula’s Garden. We had a balcony with a view of the hills of Myknonos and the Mediterranean Sea!

008
Mykonos is an island known for young crowds tanning on the beach during the day and partying at the clubs throughout the night.

011
Our first day we walked into town to see the old windmills – while they are no longer in use on the island, they are neat to see.

014
Next we walked over to Little Venice – a small part of the coast lined with cafés so close to the water you can feel the splash of the waves!
018
Lunch at Nikko’s, one of Mykonos’s many tavernas, consisted of a delicious avocado and prawn salad!

021
The only piece of evidence we saw on the whole trip of Greece’s current economic crisis.

041
Time for the beach life. Our first stop, Platis Gialis.

032
The water at all of the beaches was always a bit chilly at first, but refreshing and beautifully crystal clear!

033
Catching some sunrays.

035
Platis Gialis was lined with tons of cute cafes to lunch at.

036
We had a delicious Watermelon Feta Mint Salad drizzled with balsamic at Avli tou Thodori.

047
The following day we were on to the next beach, Super Paradise.

043
Cheers to Daiquiris and Strawberry Margaritas!

056058
Happy Birthday Will! We had a seafood dinner of grilled calamari and mussels for Will’s birthday. With wine of course, always wine.

067
Next up, Paradise Beach!

079
Paradise Beach had a neat shallow sand bank out in the water – perfect photo opportunity!

074077
We shopped around Mykonos town for souvenirs on our last day before heading to the next island.

064
Wild pelicans in Mykonos town!
099
At the edge of town is Mykonos port, a happening part of town with lots of people coming and going.
065
Boats and one of the many famous Byzantine style churches near port.

066
Mykonos port even had their own farmers market selling to the local restaurants!

100
We jumped on a Sea Jet catamaran to head to our next destination, Paros!
