No I haven’t given up cooking and I haven’t moved from Chicago. I’ve been busy getting married!
If you remember, WAY back in February 2011, I experienced the most amazing wedding proposal. After a long engagement and countless day of planning I finally got to marry my high school sweetheart and best friend on Saturday, June 16, 2012!
We had the most incredible wedding day! Our friends and family came from all over the world (Nebraska, Minnesota, and even Hong Kong!) to celebrate!
My beautiful bridesmaids helped me get ready at the Residence Inn Marriott downtown – I couldn’t have gotten into that dress without them!
The girls and I took a trolley from the hotel to the church. It was a breezy ride, but I cannot tell you how fun it was to have the busy streets of downtown Chicago honking at us along the way!
We snapped a quick photo in the dark lights of the church basement before the ceremony began!
My mom was the most beautiful mother-of-the bride ever and was escorted down the aisle with my brother.
My brother and sister were the perfect match walking up to the alter. Followed by of course by my dad and me!
Our ceremony was at Old St. Pat’s church in downtown Chicago. The church is absolutely stunning and everyone looked beautiful! Our priest was an old family friend and we couldn’t have asked for a better officiant – his humor and kind words were something to be remembered.
Our family and friends gathered outside the church to ring bells to celebrate the new couple!
After the ceremony we boarded our wedding party and closest friends and family onto the trolley for a joy ride around the city!
We hiked around to a few locations outside for some priceless city photos.
Our reception was at Spiaggia – by far one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at in Chicago. The food was phenomenal and the view overlooking Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan at night made the perfect background for the party!
All of our beautiful flowers were done by Whole Foods! They went above and beyond creating the most stunning arrangements and bouquets!
Announcing the new Mr. & Mrs.!
The cutting of the cake! We got our cake from a bakery in the city called Flour. They made the most incredible wedding cake for us with two different flavors to choose from – Lemon Cake with Apricot Mousse (our favorite) and Vanilla Cake with Black Raspberry Mousse!
Father-Daughter dance to “There is Love” by Peter Paul & Mary and First Dance to “Hold On” by Micheal Buble.
Let the party begin! Will and all of his Northwestern University buddies!
Carrie our DJ from Toast and Jam kept the party going and people dancing until 1AM! It could not have been more perfect! We had the time of our lives and cannot thank our friends and family enough for being there on our special day and for taking all of these amazing pictures so that we can share our memories with everyone while we wait on our photographer to get us the rest!
Last week we took our honeymoon to the Greek Islands and just returned last night – pictures of this coming soon!
