2012 Crossfit Games Open

For those of you who don’t know, I started doing Crossfit back in October. And yesterday, I recently joined the 2012 Crossfit Games Open! I love being a part of my Chi-town Crossfit affiliate (check out the video!) and am hoping to help get some of my Rowfit teammates to regionals!

What is the Crossfit Games?

The first step is the Open, a worldwide, inclusive, five-week competition that kicked off yesterday on February 22. Each week on Wednesday at 5PM EST, there is a workout posted to www.games.crossfit.com. Teams around the world complete the workout and record their scores. The top 30 teams from the Open will qualify for the second step of competition – Regionals. The season culminates in the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games in Carson, California. At the Games, thousands of participants will be whittled down to around a 100 of the fittest men and women in the world.

What was the Week 1 workout?

Complete as many reps as possible in 7 minutes of Burpees. This workout begins from the standing position. The athlete will move from flat on the ground to touching an object (such as a bar or rings) with both hands that is 6 inches above their max reach. Score is total reps completed.

How did I do?

I did 74 burpees in 7 minutes. It. was. brutal.
