Yes, that is exactly what you think it is, delicious homemade grape jam!
Last night at midnight I sat at the kitchen counter separating the skins and seeds from some leftover concord grapes that came from the farmers market a few weeks ago.
Will laughed at me: “What in the world are you doing!? You are so in to food; sometimes it’s quite hilarious.”
Me: “I’m going to make jam out of these old grapes!”
Will: “Do you even know how to make jam?”
Me: “Not yet, but I feel like this is the first step.”
The following morning I made my very first, homemade concord grape jam.
Check it out!
Homemade Concord Grape Jam
vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, grain-free, soy-free, dairy-free, peanut-free, tree nut-free, seed-free, shellfish-oil, fish-free, nightshade-free, bean & legume-free
- 2-3 cups concord grapes, skins and seeds removed
- Juice and lemon zest from 1/2 lemon
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp arrowroot powder (flour or cornstarch would also work)
Separate the skins and seeds from the grapes. Save the grapes, juice, and skins, but discard the seeds. In a food processor, combine grapes, juice, and skins for about 10 seconds until well processed. Transfer to a medium saucepan and heat on medium heat. Add lemon juice, zest, and sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and add arrowroot powder. Let simmer for about 10 minutes stirring periodically. Remove from heat and allow to cool, the jam will thicken as it cools. Store in air-tight container in the refrigerator.
Now all I need to do is taking up canning as a hobby so I can properly store my jam for later! 😉
