Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday with friends and family and tons of tasty food! I know I am so glad I got to see my family and had my fair share of turkey and pumpkin pie! We are always so cautious about the healthy foods we put in our bodies but what about our canine friends? This Thanksgiving I figured some of my time spent in the kitchen should be dedicated to making something for the whole family, including the dog!
Check out this recipe for all-natural apple cinnamon dog treats that I got from all-natural-dog-treat.com. It’s extremely simple and includes ingredients that are probably already on hand in your own kitchen! I even wrapped handfuls of mine up in wax paper with some ribbon and tags to hand out as gifts to family members with dogs at Thanksgiving!
- 1 cup natural applesauce
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp parsley, chopped
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- 2 eggs
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well and roll dough out onto floured surface. Add more flour as needed to prevent stickiness. Cut dough into desired shape and place on baking sheet (I used a simple circle shape to make small “cookies”). Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until biscuits become browned. Cool on rack and sprinkle with extra cinnamon.
My dog LOVED these! She couldn’t get enough of them all weekend long! I can’t wait to try some of the other fun recipes on this website!
She’s already anticipating homemade Christmas treats!
