At Eat Chic, we know that some days can be more hectic than others. There are days when you come home from work late and collapse on the couch in front of the TV and the last thing you want to do is cook. So for those busy nights, Eat Chic wants you to know what to look for when choosing a frozen TV dinner. Three easy things to look at on the nutrition label when searching for the perfect frozen entree at the supermarket are the fat, fiber, and sodium (salt) content.
1) Fat: Look for items that contain no Trans Fat (0 grams) and are low in Saturated Fat (2-3g at most).
2) Fiber: Look for entrees that contain at least 4-5g of Fiber (the more the better!)
3) Sodium: Look for items that contain less than 600mg of sodium.
Always be aware of the serving size as some entrees may contain more than one serving!
The frozen TV dinner you pick up at the grocery store should follow at least 2 of the 3 rules listed above. To get you started on your search, a few of our favorites that we recommend are Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine; however not all the entrees sold by these brand names follow the rules, so always read the nutrition label!
